Emmanuel

I was made to shine in a dark place,
And although I have never seen your face
We have danced together.
I don’t know why you had to go
But God is with us, this I know.
Can you hear him calling us?
Arise, shine, for your light has come
For you see, there is no death in Him.
I do miss your beating heart little one,
But what was meant for harm has gone
For Daddy turns it all for good
And now I am even stronger,
And I cannot be contained much longer-
The walls to my cocoon are shedding light,
Deep darkness blankets the earth tonight
But tomorrow I will fly above it,
And soar amongst the stars,
In colours no eye has seen
In songs no ear has heard
In light brighter than the sun,
Beneath the arms of my Beloved One.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”
Isaiah 60:1

For a man I know…

I see in your eyes, an ocean of grace
Bright skies, velvet doves and feathers falling
I see your heart beautifully branded;
shedding pride like a dying beast.
I see a humble man on bended knee,
Knees bleeding; blue eyes sparkling in utter beauty
And in your mouth, I taste His kingdom calling me.
A sculpted form to embrace the broken
Warm living blood to transplant
The broadest of shoulders; trusted to take a heavy yoke.
When He spoke into your life
The heavens burst forth
Like a radiant bride.
When you stand, the blackest demons shrink away
And shriek as the hardest of hearts break with your smile of compassion.

Palm in palm

For Theo

As I think in your colour
I breathe in new life
Days quicken, hours flash like stars falling.

As I swim into your ocean eyes
Tears that belong to Jesus exalt
His penetrative voice echoes in the darkness.

Time will sow the wounds no man has seen
as we love with His love our hearts will be sealed
palm in palm in Him we are healed.

Like children

Like a child her smile is as wide as the desert plain
Her eyes like candles dancing in the wind
Children cling to her like moths to light
And resurrect in the whitewashed night.

I imagine the sun to rise like dynamite
exploding fire in a beautiful sky.

Their nightly faces disappear into the shadows
demons dance, the devil is at play
but their wide white eyes like saucers seek the way.
Evil spirits choke in purest love
and a faith so thick no dark power can tear,
the flames are dancing
as children rise in the whitewashed air.

As they give their tiny hearts unto their maker
and use their tiny hands to heal the lame
hear them say in unshakable joy and wonder,
“Jesus is his name.”

What do we learn from this picture?
What can we do when our children’s eyes are blind?
Sit and ask our loving saviour
He simply says “love” and they will find
A loving father that rescues these little children
That showers his gold dust on their tiny heads
He shares his jewels with those who will believe
Look above and see the sky is red.

Like the little ones with purest delight
Come now lets surrender on this very night…

“Let the children come to me”
Our Father says,
“Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these.”

(Matthew 19:16)

‘Children know Jesus, until they are taught not to’.
